Shortly after the start, it goes straight up to the Pustertaler Höhenstraße. In Italy we are approaching the Dolomites, where we drive on wide and narrow Roads before we get to the Plöcken Pass (open-air museum war 1914-18)
and conquer the Gailbergsattel. A first test for the team and the car.
Day 3, 20.09.2022 - 255 km Start at around 9:00 a.m.
We drive to the highest point of the tour on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
It leads us over the Iselsberg, past the picturesque village of Heiligenblut the well developed road brings us to Franz-Josefs-Höhe. In front of us the Grossglockner, behind us the highest automobile museum in the world. Then back to the highest Point of the road, the Hochtor and back down to the Fuscherlacke with the Mankei host. Over coffee and cake we admire the tame
Marmots. Past the Edelweisspitze, where there is almost no free parking space and then down into the valley. In Fusch, at the Hotel Lampenhäusl in the guest garden you can choose to have lunch. We approach through a short ravine
the Hochkönig massif, then the Zeller See and then from there it's off
to the Felbertauern tunnel, and you're back in the sun in East Tyrol.
Day 4, 21.9.2022 - 155km start at 9:00 a.m.
Today we drive over the Pustertalerstraße into Villgratental up to Innervillgraten enjoy the impressive nature and visit the small
Pilgrimage church Maria Schnee from 1660. The varied, interesting
Lesachtal leads us to the basilica and the Servite monastery Maria Luggau from the16th Century. We arrive at the Quartermile Test at the Airport Lienz quite quickly on the well developed road. In the evening we take a bus
to the Dolomitenhütte in the Lienz Dolomites. Easy day / difficult evening.
Day 5, 22.9.2022 - 230km start around 9:00 a.m.
The hardest day. The Plöcken Pass, which you already know, demands more downhill than uphill. After the junction from the main road, it goes uphill-downhill
actually quite cozy, even if partly narrow, there. But after Paulaso it gets really tough: narrow, steep, abysses, overhanging rocks plus a bad road, but not a one-way street - a Challenge for all senses and reason. The Passo Lanza has it all. Almost 24km long. But the streets used to be like this and you have time. Then on the main road the world is all right again. Over the Nassfeld (Passo
Pramolle) down into the Gailtal and on towards Weissensee. At Greifenburg
you are back in the Drau valley and you can go home quickly.
Day 6, 23.9.2022 230 - 250 - 280km start before 8:00 a.m.
In the Dolomites you can choose the length of the route. But first it goes over
the stallion saddle. A high valley with a traffic light-regulated descent, past the Antholzer See in the direction of Pustertal, then in the Gardenatal to Alta Badia. The shortest route branches out beforehand, but if you have time I definitely recommend the long Route. Gardena Pass, Sella Pass, Pordoi Pass, Falzarego Pass - the perfect view of the Dolomites. You should treat yourself to one of the cable cars, the spectacular on the Sella or the one with the view on the Pordoi or ... after the bustling Cortina d’Ampezzo the beautiful driveway to the Misurina lakes, where two old hotels remind you of past noble times. Lunch in the
Dolomites. Through the Pustertal then quickly back towards the hotel.
Day 7, 24.9.2022 - 91km start around 9:00 a.m.
The last day is short, easy to drive, but with a visit to the Umbal Falls
of the Isel river very impressive. You drive to Hinterbichl, then follow the
short walk to the waterfall. According to your mood another walk is possible, which is highly recommended. Then the last ascent on the Kalser Glocknerstraße to the Lucknerhaus. An evening barbecue rounds off this wonderful week.
