The 5-Star Grandhotel Lienz opened on April 30, 2009 after a 2-year construction period. It was the first 5 Star Hotel in the East Tyrol region.
The Westreicher Family, one of the two operating families, has been running the well-known Wellness Hotel Cervosa in the family ski destination, Serfaus since 1959. In 2005, they decided to join the Simonitsch Family to expand and create the 5-Star Grandhotel Lienz in a unbelievable beautiful natural setting, with a service to cater to all the guest's desires.
Prof. Heinz E.W. Simonitsch, the majority investor of the Grandhotel Lienz was one of the world's most successful Austrian hotel managers. He was Austria's Honorary Consul in Jamaica. As a co-owner, he made the legendary “Half Moon Hotel” in Montego Bay one of the leading hotels in the Caribbean.
His business partner and managing director is the Austrian Hotelier Hugo Westreicher, who, together with his wife Gertrude, runs the Five Star Hotel Cervosa in Serfaus, which has been successfully established on the market for 60 years.
Brother Johannes Westreicher and his sisters Elisabeth Simonitsch and Angela Lechleitner have run the new hotel in Lienz with great attention to detail and great hospitality paired with high quality and experience since it opened until 2018.
In 2015, Madeleine Simonitsch, the youngest daughter and her husband have joined the team. Johannes Westreicher and Madeleine Simonitsch have been running the Hotel together since 2018.
Not to be forgotten is the next family member, the head of the unique Medical Center in the Grandhotel Lienz Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Peter Lechleitner and his wife Angela Lechleitner who is the sister of Johannes and Hugo Westreicher and Elisabeth Simonitsch.
As you can see, everything is covered by the very ambitious families to ensure that guests have a wonderful stay. With the Grandhotel Lienz, Simonitsch and Westreicher not only want to create a luxurious environment for their guests, but also offer personal service that is individually tailored to each guest.
